About nick (flatcap4eyes)

Nick Matson (flatcap4eyes) has painted and drawn as long as he can remember.
Born in 1970 in East Yorkshire Nick has had a long standing relationship with Spurn Point starting with many visits as a child. A life long ambition was always to go up the lighthouse for Nick so to get to eventually paint from its light room is a huge privilege.
Nick has worked professionally as a graphic designer and illustrator for all of his working career.
Traditionally trained as a commercial artist in Lancashire Nick went onto forge his career in the commercial field aswell as developing his style as a painter.
With his rural upbringing He has always had a connection with the outdoors and its wildlife.
A recent exhibition proved a great success documenting the details if the river hull between Tickton and Beverley. Mixing traditional landscape views with cropped close up details appeared to be a successful formula. Work from this exhibition also appeared in the Ferens art gallery in hull.
If you happen to spot Nick working on a painting during the summer at Spurn Point he will always welcome questions about the work and no doubt get you involved in what he is doing.
